Walking to the steam train, it felt as if we were on our way to Hogwarts! We even started looking for the platform 9 ¾!

The old fashion style of the platform, the brick work and old Steam Train made us feel we had travelled back in time.

The experience was one to remember, having lots of steam train ride, experiencing the different stations, and most importantly having a nice hot chocolate in the Buffet at Sheringham Station!

We also visited to the workshops and signal box at Weybourne Station. This was very interesting as we got to see how they fix the trains and how they work all the signals.

The volunteering was enjoyable, we sold teas and coffee’s in the Railway Cottage and displayed great customer service. It was great learning to communicate and speak to the customers.

Overall, it was a great experience which not many people can say they have done.

Unfortunately we didn’t see Thomas the Tank Engine but maybe we will next time…

After we arrived we started our walk around the designated path which incorporated the park’s play facilities lit up in various colours which could be played on as well as the illuminated trees as part of the dramatic backdrop.

The part that I really enjoyed the most was the glitter ball tree walk. This was a mixture of illuminated trees either side of a narrow path with round disco balls hung up at various locations along the way. These balls were illuminated by spotlights which reflected hundreds of tiny little circles all around. This was enhanced by atmospheric tune playing in the background.

After we emerged from the disco ball path there was an area in the open were we could buy and roast marshmallows. To the great delight of both of the Jamies.

The final area was a patch of open woodland which would change colour very softly creating a relaxing feel.

On Wednesday the 26th of October 24 young people and youth workers went to London to visit the Natural History Museum.

On arrival I was really struck by the size and splendour of the building, as I walked in I was greeted by a huge skeleton of a diplodocus facing me in the entrance hall which got me very excited of what was to come.

One of the first areas I explored was the Green Zone which contained one of my favourite exhibitions, the birds section. This included the extinct dodo and many other birds ranging from humming birds to giant ostriches.

Another really excellent area was the dinosaur section which was full of dinosaur skeletons and included triceratops and my favourite feature the life-size moving T-Rex.

In the Red Zone which was called Earth Zone they had lots of interesting things about our planet. Including a room which was set out as a shop in Japan which included shopping trolleys, shelves full of tins, bottles and boxes. After a few minutes of being in the room the lights started to flicker and the room started to shake with all the stuff rattling around with the floor moving. This was replicating an earthquake which I thought was a bit scary with everything in the room moving.

On the journey home on the bus we saw the London Eye, Big Ben, the Olympic Stadium, Saint Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower of London. Also, we stopped for a MacDonalds in Thetford which was very nice!!!!

Overall I really enjoyed the day and would love to go back to explore more of the sights.

During the summer holidays we went on a trip to Burnham Deepdale for a stay lasting two nights, staying in a Mongolian “Yurt.” A yurt is essentially a marquee crossed with a tent. They originated from Mongolia. The group stayed in two yurts, one small and one large.

We arrived and we were instantly surprised at how luxurious the yurts were. After deciding which yurts people were staying in, we decided to spend the night by having a barbeque and playing cricket. The next day we went to Hunstanton to go swimming, ice skating and crazy golf. Later on that evening we went out for a meal which was really nice. After that, we played different games outside the Yurts. The next day after breakfast we arrived home.

Over all the whole stay was a really enjoyable one, we thoroughly enjoyed all the activities. We would like to personally thank Julie along with all the volunteers for this experience.
