Facilities

We provide a place to hang out, try new things, and take part in activities that help build confidence, friendships, and skills for life.

Our purpose-built home in Holt has come a long way from the ‘Shed in a field’ originally conceived of by our founder, Julie Alford, over 30 years ago. Today, we have a purpose-built sports hall and gym, a fully equipped kitchen and allotment for cultivating ingredients, creative spaces, a well-equipped IT suite, and much more available for all of our members to enjoy.

Recreational space

The recreation space is the heart of Holt Youth Project, a lively social hub where young people gather to hang out, catch up, relax, and spend time with friends.

Open to all members and groups, this comfy and welcoming area offers pool, table tennis, air hockey, and plenty of room to relax and chat. It’s a space where friendships grow, activities bring people together, and everyone can enjoy being part of the Project’s vibrant community.

Kitchen

Our large, fully-equipped kitchen is where members learn to cook real meals, work with fresh ingredients, and practise nutrition and healthy eating. It’s a hands-on space for discovering new recipes, building confidence in the kitchen, and enjoying food made together.

Sports hall

Our sports hall is versatile and vibrant, with courts and space for football, basketball, badminton, and more. Whether organising matches, trying out a new sport, or having fun with friends, it’s where energy, teamwork, and friendly competition thrive.

Health hut (14 – 25)

The Health Hut gym is where physical and mental well-being meet. With cardio machines, resistance workouts, and free weights, members follow personalised fitness plans, grow stronger, push their limits, and gain discipline—all in a supportive environment led by level 2 and level 3 gym instructors.

I like being able to bake here because I don’t get to do it at home, as we don’t have the ingredients. Can I take this home with me?

The allotment

Our allotment is a green retreat where young people grow fruit and vegetables year-round. It’s more than gardening: you learn about where food comes from, wildlife, sustainability, and then use your harvest in cookery workshops—a true seed-to-plate experience.

The Pavilion

The Pavilion serves as a community anchor—with clothing support, advice, and access to resources for local families. It’s a place of giving back, of support and solidarity, and where practical help meets compassion. You can find more about the community-wide services at the Pavilion here.

The IT suite opens doors to digital skills, helping members stay safe online, research topics they care about, and gain qualifications. It’s a space to learn, connect, and build confidence through computers, coding, and creativity.
